Alloy 600 (also known as Inconel 600) is a high-alloy nickel-chromium alloy, renowned for its excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature strength, and reliable mechanical properties under extreme conditions. Properties:

Corrosion resistance:

  • Maintains strength up to approx. 1100 °C (2000 °F), making it suitable for high-temperature applications such as gas turbines and furnaces

Mechanical properties:

  • Excellent mechanical strength and toughness at room and elevated temperatures. Strength remains stable even above 600 °C.

Weldability:

  • Good weldability, making it a preferred material for flexible manufacturing applications

Thermal expansion:

  • Relatively low thermal expansion, ideal for applications requiring dimensional stability under temperature changes

Applications:

  • Gas turbines: Blades, vanes, and other components exposed to extreme temperatures and mechanical loads.
  • Furnaces and heat exchangers: Used where high temperatures and aggressive chemical environments occur.
  • Chemical industry: Pipes, valves, and equipment in plants handling corrosive substances.
